The Basic Sail Course consists of an orientation, lecture content (in-person and / or online), and On-the-Water (OTW) classes. OTW classes are on Meadow Lake at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. For the Spring intensive session, the OTW classes are planned for Saturdays. For the Summer session, there will be two sections, one meeting on a weekday evening and one meeting on Saturday morning. Students will be assigned to an OTW section based on student and volunteer availability.

The goal of TASCA's Basic Sail course is to have students able to rig, de-rig, and sail solo by the last session.

The minimum age for the Basic Sail program is 16.
Registration for the 2025 season will open in early March. **Spots are limited and will be available on a first come, first served basis.** Attendance at all scheduled sessions is required and make-up dates are reserved for weather-related cancellations. If you anticipate a schedule conflict with any of the dates, please register for a different session.
