Intermediate Sailing Course

Open to TASCA Members only

Classroom Instruction:  Saturdays, March 15th, 22nd, 29th April 5th 2014

On the Water Training:  April & May, 2013


The Intermediate Sailing Course allows people who have taken the Basic Sailing Course and joined TASCA to improve their sailing skills. Open only to TASCA Members, this is TASCA’s "second level" sailing course. Focus is on developing sailing proficiency, seamanship and safety while operating centerboard sailboats and larger keelboats.

This course is a prerequisite for becoming a TASCA Instructor, Chaseboat Operator, Dockmaster, Skipper and Cruise Skipper.

The Intermediate Sailing Courses includes classroom instruction and on-the-water training on the American 14s at Meadow Lake. Training opportunities are also available on TASCA’s sloops - 23’ Dawn and 28’ Precious Gem. After the training, candidates will be tested on their ability to operate a keelboat.

Candidates who wish to serve as a volunteer staff member for TASCA’s Basic Sailing Course will be tested for TASCA Instructor, Chaseboat Operator and/or Dockmaster certification.

Candidates who have sailing experience outside TASCA may qualify to have parts of the lecture/training waived before being tested for TASCA Instructor, Chaseboat Operator or Dockmaster certification.
